LS-FCM Flash Control Module

When manual flash rate adjustment is needed, the LS-FCM offer a convenient low-cost solution to provide this capability. It simply plugs into one of the two connectors on the back side of the LS Xenon Strobe or LS LED Strobe, providing precise manual control of the flash rate for the user. The LS-FCM be installed at any time.

Max Flash Rate is 120,000 fpm (2000 Hz) when used with LED Strobes and 12,500 fpm (208 Hz) with Xenon Strobes.

LS-FCM Operating Instructions

This control unit is designed for use with the LS Strobe series. With this control unit you can manually adjust the flash frequency of the stroboscope.

Warning: Please read all warnings as detailed in the instruction manual of the stroboscope.

How to use

1. Plug the LS-FCM into either one of the (2) jacks on the backside of the Strobe and tighten the screw.

2. To adjust the frequency, rotate the knob CCW (Counter Clockwise, left) to DECREASE flash frequency or CW (Clockwise, right) to INCREASE flash frequency.

(The rate of change will increase as you rotate the knob faster)

LS-SCU Remote Control Unit

Designed to provide a programmable frequency output for use to Control Xenon and LED Stroboscopes. Programmable adjustments include flash rate (FPM or Hz), Pulse Duration (usec), Pulse Degree, Delay (msec), Phase Shift (Degree), Divider and more.

All controls are accessed via 6 tactile buttons on the front of the controller with all values shown on a alpha/numeric LCD Display. Unit is 24V DC powered and is supplied with 5 ft. connection cable.

Universal Power Supply with 4 plug adapters (for use with 100–265V AC) available as an option.

LS-REGSENSOR Registration Mark Sensor

The LS-REGSENSOR is a registration mark sensor designed to see printed registration marks on most packaging materials on a continuous web. The “one-touch” set-up enables the sensor to be adjusted with a single push of a button. There is no more guess work, making the operator’s adjustment procedure easy!

Function

The LS-REGSENSOR utilizes a white LED light source that is optimized to detect printed registration marks on translucent, transparent, and many metalized films and paper.

Applicable

This sensor is particularly useful on form, fill, and seal machines. Note that most packaging materials (except foil) are translucent! Many of the translucent packaging materials that we have tested allow light to penetrate either the backing material or the registration mark. Because this sensor operates in the opacity sensing mode, the color of the registration mark simply doesn’t matter!

The LS-REGSENSOR operates on 10-30 VDC and is pulse modulated to prevent any problems with ambient light. Its design incorporates a white LED light source directing a beam of light across the gap to the receiving lens of a photoelectric detector.

Note: Marks as small as 1/16” wide by 1/4” long can be detected, dependent upon web opacity (contrast) and velocity.

In operation, the moving web of packaging material passes through the gap/slot. This sensor can detect registration marks in a wide variety of applications, as long as the size of the mark and velocity meets the capability of the sensor. When the intensity of the light beam transmitted through the web of material is altered by the presence of printed registration mark, the LS-REGSENSOR will switch its output accordingly.

Note: For “Metalized” film that does not produce the desired response, we recommend sensing with a reflective mode sensor.

Set Up

The LS-REGSENSOR is an automatic sensor…it is not a conventional “teach mode” sensor. As a result, all that is required to adjust the sensor is to place the web between the marks and push the appropriate Autoset™ button one time. The sensor will automatically adjust itself to a perfect setting. The LS-REGSENSOR will now sense the difference or contrast between the light level penetrating through the web, giving an output when the mark is in view. Provision for a remote Autoset™ switch is also provided.

LS-GAPSENSOR Label Sensor

The LS-GAPSENSOR is a photoelectric sensor designed to sense the “gap” between labels and provide a trigger signal used to flash a stroboscope.

Since the LS-GAPSENSOR is an automatic one-touch sensor,not the conventional “teach mode” sensor, so set-up is simple. Position the gap between the labels directly under the sensors sight guide and push the appropriate Auto-set™ button.

The sensor does the rest, adjusting itself to the perfect setting. Sensing labels has never been easier.

LS-36-LED Fixed-Mount Inspection Stroboscope

The new LS-36-LED is high-performance fixed-mount LED-stroboscope with powerful light output and homogeneous illumination for XXL-web widths.

The new LS-36-LED Linear Strobe is designed for fixed-mounting on a wide variety of machinery and for various visual inspection tasks. It utilizes 480 high-performance LEDs arranged in a 60 x 8 array to produce a bright/sharp image with a uniform light distribution for web widths up to 47″ (1200mm) and wider. For wider coverage, two or more Strobes can be combined in a Master/Slave arrangements using an interconnect cable to transfer the trigger signal from one to the other for perfect synchronization.

When using these trigger options simultaneously, you can easily alternate between the signal inputs by using the switch on the reverse side of the device.

Additional Control Options: There are two options for varying the control of the LS-36-LED:
LS-FCM: a simple and inexpensive unit for controlling flash frequency. You simply insert this small control unit into one of the sockets on the reverse side of the device.
LS-SCU: for adjusting the flash frequency, phase shift, delay time and trigger divider. This unit is connected to the stroboscope by cable and provides the convenience of remote control even if the stroboscope within your machine is difficult to access.

LS-9-12000-UV Inspection Stroboscope

The LS-9-12000-UV stroboscope is designed for visual inspection of UV ink on labels and other printed material. It is commonly used on slitters, rewinders, and similar process equipment.

The LS-9-12000-UV’s flash can be triggered by an external sensor or optional plug-in module (LS-FCM). Two or more strobes can be synced together to cover wide webs.

LS-9-12000 Web Inspection Stroboscope

The new LS-9-12000 Linear Strobe is designed for fixed mounting on all machinery that utilizes a strobe for visual inspection including rewinders, slitters and similar process equipment in the label printing and process market as well as many others markets including vibration analyzers, balancers, metal producing equipment and much more.

The LS-9’s flash rate can be externally triggered by an external sensor/controller on the process machine or the following optional accessories the LS-FCM Flash Control Module or the LS-SCU Remote Strobe Controller. The strobe operates using 24V DC using power already available on the machine or by using our worldwide AC-DC power adapter available as an option.
